"...Let us visit Christ whenever we may; let us care for him, feed him, clothe him, welcome him, honor him, not only at a meal, as some have done, or by anointing him, as Mary did, or only ye lending him a tomb, like Joseph of Arimathaea, or by arranging for his burial, like Nicodemus, who loved Christ half-heartedly, or by giving him gold, frankincense and myrrh, like the Magi before all these others. The Lord of all asks for mercy, not sacrifice, and mercy is greater than myriads of fattened lambs. Let us then show him mercy in the persons of the poor and those who today are lying on the ground, so that when we come to leave this world they may receive us into everlasting dwelling places, in Christ our Lord himself, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."

St. Gregory of Nazianzen.

THE SECRET

One day, one friend asked another, "How is it that you are always so happy?
You have so much energy, and you never seem to get down."
With her eyes smiling, she said, "I know the Secret!"
"What secret is that?"
To which she replied, "I'll tell you all about it,
but you have to promise to share the Secret with others."

"The Secret is this:
I have learned there is little I can do in my life that will make me truly happy. I must depend on God to make me happy and to meet my needs. When a need arises in my life, I have to trust God to supply according to HIS riches. I have learned most of the time I don't need half of what I think I do. He has never let me down. Since I learned that 'Secret', I am happy."

The questioner's first thought was, "That's too simple!"
But upon reflecting over her own life she recalled how she thought a bigger house would make her happy, but it didn't! She thought a better paying job would make her happy, but it hadn't. When did she realize her greatest happiness? Sitting on the floor with her grandchildren, playing games, eating pizza or reading a story, a simple gift from God.

Now you know it too!
We can't depend on people to make us happy.
Only GOD in His infinite wisdom can do that.
Trust HIM!
And now I pass the Secret on to you!
So once you get it, what will you do?

YOU have to tell someone the Secret, too!
That GOD in His wisdom will take care of YOU!
But it's not really a secret...
We just have to believe it and do it...
Really trust God!

FAMILY LOVE
By Mother Teresa

"But as for me and my household we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15)

Everybody today seems to be in a hurry. No one has any time to give to others: children to their parents, parents to their children, spouses to each other.

World peace begins to break down in the homes.

Once in a while we should ask ourselves several questions in order to guide our actions. We should ask questions like: Do I know the poor? Do I know, in the first place, the poor in my family, in my home, those who are closest to me - people who are poor, but not because they lack bread?

There are other types of poverty just as painful because they are more intrinsic.

Perhaps what my husband or wife lacks, what my children lack, what my parents lack, is not clothes or food. Perhaps they lack love, because I do not give it to them!

Where does love begin?
In our own homes.
When does it begin?
When we pray together.
The family that prays together stays together.

Prayer is joy,
prayer is love,
prayer is peace.
You cannot explain it,
you must experience prayer.
It is not impossible.
God gives it for the asking.
"Ask and you shall receive."
The father knows what to give his children
How much more our heavenly Father knows?

- MOTHER TERESA

I AM THANKFUL

For the wife who says it's hot dogs tonight, because she is home with me, and not out with someone else.
For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato, because he is home with me and not out at the bars.
For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes because that means she is at home, not on the streets.
For the taxes that I pay because it means that I am employed.
For the mess to clean after a party because it means that I have been surrounded by friends.
For the clothes hat fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.
For my shadow that watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine.
Or a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.
Or all the complaining i hear about the government because it means that we have freedom of speech.
For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking and that i have been blessed with transportation.
For my huge heating bill because it means I am warm.
For the lady behind me in church that sings off key because it means that I can hear.
For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means I have clothes to wear.
For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been capable of working hard.
For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am alive.
and finally... for too much e-mail because it means I have friends who are thinking of me.

A GIFT OF LOVE

"Can I see my baby?" the happy new mother asked.
When the bundle was nestled in her arms and she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped. The doctor turned quickly and looked out the tall hospital window. The baby had been born without ears.
Time proved that the baby's hearing was perfect.  It was only his appearance that was marred. When he rushed home from school one day and flung himself into his mother's arms, she sighed, knowing that his life was to be a succession of heartbreaks. He blurted out the tragedy. "A boy, a big boy called me a freak."
He grew up, handsome for his misfortune. A favorite with his fellow
students, he might have been class president, but for that. He developed a gift, a talent for literature and music. "But you might mingle with other young people," his mother reproved him, but felt a kindness in her heart.
The boy's father had a session with the family physician. Could nothing be done? "I believe I could graft on a pair of outer ears,if they could be procured," the doctor decided.
Whereupon the search began for a person who would make such a sacrifice for a young man. Two years went by.
Then, "You are going to the hospital, Son. Mother and I have someone who will donate the ears you need.  But it's a secret," said the father.
The operation was a brilliant success, and a new person emerged. His talents blossomed into genius, and school and college became a series of triumphs.
Later he married and entered the diplomatic service.
"But I must know!" He urged his father, "Who gave so much for me? I could never do enough for him."
"I do not believe you could," said the father, "but the agreement was that you are not to know ... not yet."
The years kept their profound secret, but the day did come ...one of the darkest days that a son must endure. He stood with his father over his mother's casket.
Slowly, tenderly, the father stretched forth a hand and raised the thick,
reddish-brown hair to reveal that the mother had no outer ears.
"Mother said she was glad she never let her hair be cut," he whispered
gently, "and nobody ever thought Mother less beautiful, did they?"
Real beauty lies not in the physical appearance, but in the heart...

"LOVE never asks how much must I do, Instead, LOVE asks how much can I do."

LISTEN TO THE WHISPER

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.

As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and drove the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown.

The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost me a lot of money. Why did you do it?"

The young boy was apologetic. "Please mister. . . . please, I'm sorry. I didn't know what else to do. I threw the brick because no one else would stop." With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. "It's my brother. He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up." Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me."

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the lump in his throat. He lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out his handkerchief and wiped at the fresh scrapes and cuts.

Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable but the driver never repaired the dented side door. He kept the dent to remind him of this message:

Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention.

God whispers to our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us.

Listen to the whisper. . . or wait for the brick.

DEAR LORD

Please take a moment to relax your mind and humble your heart to focus on Christ. Allow God, to be the only person on your mind while you read this prayer. If we can take the time to read long jokes, stories, etc., we should give the same respect to this prayer. Friends that pray together, stay together.

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness.

Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.

Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things.

Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.

Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.

And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus' example to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will.

Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that will delete this without sharing it with others. I pray for those that don't believe.

But I thank you that I believe. I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight. I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly.

This is my prayer. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Just repeat this phrase and see how God moves!!

Lord I love you and I need you, come into my heart, please.

One of the innumerable miracles that occurred during the apparitions of our Lady in Saint Demiana church, Papadouplo, Shoubra is the following miracle which was published in Watani weekly newspaper on Sunday, June 1st, 1986 (P. 5, 3rd column):

The mother of Theresa Soliman Youssef (6 years old) reports the miracle that the Blessed Holy Virgin Mary did to her daughter: Theresa had lost vision in her right eye after a tricot needle pierced this eye and injured the cornea and eye lens, causing traumatic cataract. The girl was unable to see using this eye; this occurred on November 17, 1984.

On December 5, 1984, the child was operated upon to remove the destroyed lens in order to use an external replacement contact lens thereafter, but the right eye condition deteriorated due to a secondary purulent infection. Theresa's mother continues saying:

On Sunday, May 18, 1986, I took my daughter and we went to Saint Demiana church in El-Teraa El-Boolakia, Shoubra. After receiving the Holy Communion, we ascended to the church's balcony and stood there with the crowd. And suddenly, a strong light shone from the right side of the veil of the altar. My daughter raised her hand towards the source of light, then wiped her sick eye with her palm and suddenly shouted exultantly:

I can see mother... I can see mother!

She could put her hand over her left (good) eye and still see with her right eye which was once blind.

Dr. Fayez Akhnoukh, who also serves at Saint Demiana church, examined the child, tested the visual acuity of both of her eyes, and found that the girl could now see using her right eye which was healed miraculously. Father Raphael El-Anba Bishoy who was at this time helping Father Heg. Abdel Messih El-Sherbeeni, the church priest, has recorded and documented this miracle

What Life is About

Life isn't about keeping score.
It's not about how many friends you have
Or how accepted you are.
Not about if you have plans this weekend or if you're alone.
It isn't about who you have kissed,
It isn't about who your family is
Or how much money they have
Or what kind of car you drive.
Or where you are sent to school.
It's not about how beautiful or ugly you are.
Or what clothes you wear, what shoes you have on,
Or what kind of music you listen to.
It's not about if your hair is blonde, red, black, or brown,
Or if your skin is too light or too dark.
Not about what grades you get
how smart you are
how smart everybody else thinks you are
Or how smart standardized tests say you are.

Life just isn't.

Life is about who you love and who you hurt.
It's about who you make happy or unhappy purposely.
It's about keeping or betraying trust.
It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or as a weapon.

It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening.
It's about starting rumors and contributing to petty gossip.
It's about what judgments you pass and why.
And who your judgments are spread to.

It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention.
It's about jealousy, fear, ignorance, and revenge.
It's about carrying inner hate and love,
letting it grow and spreading it.

But most of all, it's about using your life to touch or poison other people's hearts in such a way that could have never occurred alone.

Only you choose the way those hearts are affected, and those choices are what life's all about.

Today let this rainbow remind your friends and family of what life is really all about.

“ The life is more than meat, and the body [is more] than raiment. ( Luke 12 :23 ) “

“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 15: 12 ) “

PANIC ROOM

I saw a new movie last recently: "Panic Room." It was about a mother and daughter whose home is broken into and they hide in a special safe room that nobody can enter from the outside.

Wouldn't you like to have a "panic room," and not just when burglars break in. There are many times when we would like to run into a safe place to hide from whatever scares or worries us. We do have such a refuge! It's in the arms of God. Deuteronomy 33:27 says "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."

Psalm 91:2 says "He is my fortress." A fortress provides strong protection, and when the God of the universe is our fortress, we need not fear.

Matthew 23:37 says that God longs to cover us with His wings. Jesus compared the Father's protection (in Matthew 23:37) to that of a mother hen with her chicks. Have you heard the story about the hen who protected her babies by gathering them under her wings during a fire? When the fire was extinguished, the hen was dead; but her chicks had been spared by the protection of her wings. Like a mother hen, God is willing to sacrifice himself to save us.

I don't have a "panic room" in my house, but I do have one in my heart. I can take refuge from the fears and worries of life in the mighty fortress that is God. In his everlasting arms I can relax and know I'm safe. His word even says that he has carved a place for me in the palm of his hand. There's no place I'd rather be.

Lord Sometimes...

You allow Breakage's, so You can Rebuild;

You allow Wounds, so You can Heal;

You allow me to Walk in Darkness, so that I see Your Light;

You allow me to be Perplexed, so I seek Your Truth;

You allow me to be Empty, so You can Fill Me;

You allow me to be Lonely, so I can see what a Friend - You are;

You allow me to Learn hard Things, so I can be a gentle Teacher;

You allow me to be void of Feelings, so I learn to walk by Faith;

You take away my future Plans, to Teach me to Live one Day at a Time;

You allow me to suffer Pain, so I may be Sympathetic to the Hurts of Others;

You allow me to see the Futility of Life, so I will see Everything is Loss, Compared to the Excellency of Knowing Your Son, Jesus.

Now, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us (Romans8:37)

LET'S GROW AND CHANGE TOGETHER

"I love you, You're Perfect, Now Change" is the title of a humorous play -- a parody on how we often fall madly in love and then strive to remake our spouses. Sometimes we nag. Sometimes we cajole or manipulate or threaten. But it doesn't work.

I often tell a bride that there will be three words on her mind when she marries. One is aisle where she will float down on her father's arm. The next is the altar where she will kneel. And the third is the hymn which will be sung during the ceremony. After the ceremony, her thoughts will move to three similar sounding words: "l will alter him."

"I love you, you're perfect, now change." In all honesty, do you find yourself trying to change your spouse? If you really want change, try these simple guidelines:

Guideline 1: Love your spouse "as is." Stop trying to get your mate to change. Love begins where you are right now. Change is the result of God's Holy Spirit working in a person's life. Your nagging doesn't help.

Guideline 2: Strive to be the person that God wants you to be. If you spend too much time getting your spouse to change, you'll forget to become the person you should be. Focus on being the right person you should be. Focus on being the right person, not on making the other person right.

Guideline 3: Pray that God will do His work in your spouse's heart. "My husband is not a Christian," I often hear.
"Well, have you prayed for him, asking God to bring him to Himself?"
"Oh, yes!"
Then say, "My husband hasn't yet become a Christian," reflecting the expectancy you feel in your heart that God has heard your prayer and in His own time will do His work in your husband's heart.

"I love you, you're perfect, now change." It just doesn't work. But as we conform to what God wants, as we love our spouse and strive to please him or her, change will happen.

"I love you, you're perfect. Let's grow and change together as God works in our lives." That's the better way.

HOW TO BE A GODLY EMPLOYEE

(based on the 10 Commandments)

1. Trust in God only.
Trust in no one but GOD. People will disappoint you. God created you and has a wonderful plan for your life. He is too good to do wrong, and too wise to make a mistake. Let His peace abide in you. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
2. Worship God only.
Don't make your career, your company, or your boss a god. If you do, you will provoke Him to jealously and will end up fighting Him. In fact, He may hinder you from achieving what you want until you are broken of the idolatry. (Exodus 20:5).
3. Use God's Name Reverently.
Don't swear!! Clean words come out of a clean heart! If your co-workers know that you are a Christian, but they hear the Lord's Name used in vain, or cursing and swearing from your mouth, you will give the appearance of being a hypocrite. (Matthew 15:17-19).
4. Work Six Days and Rest on the Seventh.
Before you beg for more vacation time, ask yourself a few questions, "Do you honor the Sabbath?" God has already given you 52 days of time off that equates to seven weeks. "Are your expectations for work, vacation, and retirement realistic?" By resting one day a week, you can avoid burnout. (Genesis 3:17-19).
5. Respect and Obey Your Boss.
You should respect and obey your boss, because you don't know what it's like to be in their shoes. Plus, your ultimate boss is the Lord. Serve Him faithfully on the job, and He will bless you. However, if your boss commands you to do something illegal or immoral, you must make a stand and obey God rather than man. (Ephesians 6:5-8).
6. Protect and Respect Human Life.
Emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual manipulation, abuses and violence have no place in the workplace...or any place. You do not have the right to use and abuse your boss, co-workers, employees, customers, or suppliers. (1 Thessalonians 3:1-2).
7. Be True to Your Spouse.
If you are not getting the kind of attention that you feel you deserve at home, it's common to seek it with someone at work. Honor your wedding vows by avoiding company romances! They are very tempting, very real, and very common. They are also very wrong and very destructive. (Matthew 19:8-9).
8. Do Not Take What Belongs to Others.
Stealing at work can take many forms. You can choose to steal materials, money, time, productivity , and joy from your employer and others. Do not remove your integrity by stealing. (II Corinthians 7:1-2).
9. Do Not Lie About Others.
Do not fabricate stories about your boss, co-workers, and spread gossip for the sake of company politics. You are here to be the salt and the light, not the pepper and the darkness!! Truth always rises to the surface, and eventually you will be ashamed and rebuked if you lie. (II Peter 2: 10-13 ).
10. Be Satisfied With What You Have.
Contentment doesn't mean that you cannot pursue God-given goals, but it does mean that you are content with what He has provided you with, day after day. Contentment is a rare quality in today's culture, but it is extremely liberating! Materialism, striving for rank , backstabbing, and discontent lead to emotional, mental, financial, and spiritual bondage. (I Timothy 6:6-11 ).

YOU WILL NEVER BE SORRY...

For thinking before acting

For hearing before judging.

For forgiving your enemies

For being candid and frank.

For helping a fallen brother.

For being honest in business.
For thinking before speaking.

For being loyal to your church.

For standing by your principles.

For closing your ears to gossip.

For bridling a slanderous tongue.

For harboring pure thoughts.

For sympathizing with the afflicted.

For being courteous and kind to all.

MY HANDS

These are my hands God has blessed them
They are filled with love, energy and compassion with my hands folded I have prayed for and with many, including the sick and grieved.

They have cradled my babies and grandchildren helped to heal their bruises and give them loving hugs stirred the oatmeal, washed the diapers Cuts, pasted and taped paper art works

They have weeded the garden, held the rake and hoe Tended, nurtured and picked the flowers stitched quilts, restored furniture and decorated homes Bringing comfort and beauty to family and friends

Kneaded and baked bread, rolled the cookies Created and frosted wedding cakes
Baked hundreds of fruitcakes Written articles, stories and poetry Played the organ and strummed the omnichord

To my heavenly Father I give the praise He has given me the gifts To use my hands in a multitude of ways For which I'm deeply grateful

When my hands are stilled I do not want to be remembered For the works I have done of for projects I have not completed But rather, for my love and the prayers I have said for you And my trust in God that He will always watch over you

The Bible contains:

The mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. It's doctrines are holy, it's precepts are binding, it's histories are true, and it's decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Where paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.

Christ is it's grand subject, our good it's design, and the glory of God it'd end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.

Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be open at judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and condemns all who trifle with it's holy contents.
